Usually the selection criteria could be the diploma certificate, or any other equivalent degree. Most companies normally demand a bachelors degree for this job and they require sufficient experience from a reputable organization. Usually, most of the leaders start their careers by working in the production lines and then move on to become a production leader. If the company hires from outside of the company, then they look for experience and verifiable credentials.

After all of the above requirements and qualification standards, the employee must have excellent communication skills, excellent verbal and writing capabilities, and the ability to lead others effectively. They must be able to analyze the progress of the production, maintain quality and safety standards, and oversee all of the production staff. They must have great supervisory skills and time managing capabilities because the clients, or the managers, usually demand the completion of the project or production assignment within the given time-line, without listening to any excuses or requests

A production leader must be one of the most unsatisfactory leadership positions. It sounds like this is the person that everyone complains to, the employees and the managers. He or she would have to be stern and disciplined with the employees to make sure they do their job right. And he or she must also please the managers and increase production levels to their expectations. It sounds like a very stressful job to me.

@ysmina-- They may be the same or they may be different. A company may have one and not the other. It really depends on the industry and the needs of the company.

A team leader is basically someone who leads the team and supervises them as needed. A production leader is a role specifically in production industries (versus information industries, etc.) In order for there to be a production leader, there must be production or a production line. A team leader may have various different types of responsibilities. But the main responsibility of a production leader is the production.

In large companies, there are often multiple production leaders for different parts of production.
